What are some of the symptoms of a sick rat?
You won’t be able to tell from looking at a rat whether or not it is sick, or if it is carrying some kind of
disease that could potentially injure you, your household, and even your household pets. That’s why we would
always recommend proceeding with extreme caution when you come up against a rat infestation in your home - you
just don't know what you might come up against.
A sick rat might act drowsier than usual, but unless you know how that rat would usually react or act, you won’t know
whether or not it is acting differently. If the rat was your pet, you would probably notice a change, but when the rat
is just running in and around your home from time to time, you just won’t know the difference.
Of course, we’re forgetting the most important factor here - what if the rat were NEWLY infected with something that they
could then transmit on to you, your household members or your pets? These diseases can often take a few days, and in some
cases, even weeks, before symptoms will start to materialise. This can be the case with both rats and humans, so you might
not even be aware that the rat has become infected with something. That’s what makes them so dangerous - there are too many
possibilities. There are too many ways in which they can pass the disease on to you, so many diseases that they can pass on,
and so many dangerous outcomes. That’s why we would always recommend giving the professionals a call if you find that you have
a rat infestation.
